MISSION STATEMENT
::OUR MISSION STATEMENT::
Goals
* BCS Change
* NFL Corruption (hate to use the word Corruption, but if you have to label it)
* NFL Overtime
Dear Football Fans,
Have you ever come across and meet someone who likes the
BCS setup?
Neither have we.
Here at BoycottFootball we understand that the BCS is
needed, HOWEVER..
It needs what the game deserve; A small playoff system.
Not a full blown out of hand playoff run, but something to keep
things fair
for the kids that they are making MILLIONS AND MILLIONS
on.
They are not exactly ‘Kids’, but they are as young as 17!
Playing their guts out, playing their hearts out, leaving it all on
the field
and even unfortunately leaving their health and lives on the
field.
All while not making a DIME while the schools make MILLIONS,
cash hand over fist.
We would like to give a simple solution.
4 or 5 team play-off.
First top two teams ranked by the BCS would be in the playoff.
Now step back and look at the Div-1 undefeated teams that
are NOT BCS top ranked.
IE: Utah of 2008/2009. If you saw the Utah Bowl Game, you
know where we are coming from.
If you did not see the game, well… watch it before you judge
them. Game was GREAT.
Ask Senator Hatch of Utah. Anyway, back to the playoff setup.
If there are UNDEFEATED teams that arent ranked, THEY ARE
IN.
This leaves up to 3 teams. If there are none, then take the
top 4 ranked teams and have it out.
This was the perfect year. There was no clear number one
team and
then toss in Utah as the lone undefeated and non top ranked
BCS team.
This year you could have taken the top 3 teams and Utah as
the undefeated.
Or with the optional 5th team idea, or ‘play in’ game,
take the 4th ranked team and have them play the undefeated
non top
ranked BCS team and the winner is in the top 4.
It could be flexible from year to year as to if there were going
to be 4 or 5 teams.
ALL depending on the undefeated teams that HAVE NEVER
LOST.
Some say that they dont play that hard of a schedule.
First of all, how hard is it to win ALL the games in a year, no
matter how easy the schedule?
Michigan vs App State. USC vs Stanford … ETC!!
Second, you wont know HOW good they are or could be until
they get to play ‘better’ programs.
Our example would be 2007 Fiesta Bowl.
Boise State vs Oklahoma. Overtime. Who can forget that
game?!
How hard the Broncos fought. For respect. For themselves.
FOR THE GAME!!
Maybe one guy on that team had a chance to ‘MAKE IT’ in the
NFL.
For the rest, that was it…
As the school pulled in Millions, most of their football careers
were over.
Another thing a playoff system would help is what we refer to
as the ‘Silent Killer’.
The time off between seasons end and the bowl games.
6 weeks between games?
Yes, both teams have the same disadvantage, but they are
not playing at top performance.
It shows! The bowl games are SO lopsided!!
Teams are not built the same way. Offenses and Defenses
take the season to fine tune.
After a couple months off you expect them to come out firing?
You have to be crazy to think this is a good thing.
A playoff system would close that gap.
We also believe that students should get some of that bowl
game money.
Not a lot. Here is how its done fairly.
EVERY student at EVERY school no matter what the bowl
game gets
a portion of the proceeds if they infact make it to a bowl
game. Maybe a bonus to the winners.
Even if its just a little something as a thank you. Something to
show them they are appreciated.
It is a fine line, but as long as its a think dark and straight line,
it can be done.
Common Sense can cure a lot of things… like the NFL.
NFL has two problems. One being greed and the other being
Overtime.
If you watched the SuperBowl, you could NOT be happy with
what you saw.
(unless you are a steelers fan. of course you are going to
defend your team.)
Setting the teams a side lets look at it.
The game was RIDICULOUS for being a the SUPERBOWL!!
HORRIBLE AND DISGUSTING.
You may watch the SB just to watch it or because its the SB,
but how about some decency to true fans that watch the
game because ITS FOOTBALL!
There are a lot of people that will turn on a tv and watch
FOOTBALL. Not just ‘their team’.
I could go on and on about the game. The no calls. Holmes
being Lebron.
The non-reviews. Warners ‘fumble’. And so on.
This was unacceptable on any given sunday, let alone THE
SUPERBOWL!!
Something HAS to be done. NFL is seeing a recession. Lets give
them more of it.
Overtime: This is so simple, but yet the NFL is dancing around
it because of MONEY.
Money from TV contracts. They want more bang for the buck
rather than something fair.
These men play hard, play hurt, end a season in any given
game. But yet a flip of a coin
has such a HUGE impact on their efforts.
The fix: Flip that coin just like normal.
The first offense gets the ball and if they DO NOT score
it becomes sudden death like it is now.
If they do score then the opposing team gets to answer back.
If they dont score it remains sudden death like it is now.
If they DO score then they HAVE to go for 2.
Not one team would argue this, NOT ONE. Atleast they have
the ball in their hands to win it.
And its worth 2 points for a reason. The defense has a chance
to stop them to win.
This is SIMPLE. But they are scared of TV contracts.
But some teams are built for offense and some teams
are built for defense. You can’t penalize them for that?!
Or else you are telling every team they HAVE to be built for
defense first.
Remember the Rams in the early 2000′s. They out scored
everyone and won doing it.
If they would have been in the SuperBowl or a Playoff game,
and the defense had to go one first, they probably lose.
But they were the better team. They were built for offense.
The proof is that they won SuperBowls!!
For a league that loves scoring, this makes no sense.. other
than C.R.E.A.M.
OK. What can we do and what can you do.
This was all made clear when President Barak Obama
merely suggested a playoff in the BCS.
They straight up said NO.
WOW. That takes some brass. But think about it.
The only reason they act so tough is because of US! We and
You.
Our money. We quit giving it to them and they fold.
Also think about this. We are not taking a dime away from the
students playing.
They dont make any money; we are doing this for them too!
We are asking you do one thing.
DO NOT GO TO THE GAMES.
The empty seats, the lack of funds, then they lose that
bravado and do what’s RIGHT!
If you are right now, someone who is saying,
‘THERE IS NO WAY I CAN NOT GO TO MY TEAMS GAMES!’
Then atleast DO NOT give them your money by buying FOOD,
DRINKS, SHIRTS, Etc..
This WILL add up.
And as soon as they see their wallets shrink even a LITTLE we
will have their attention.
Think about it!! THINK ABOUT IT. Its simple. Spend that
money at your local pub and grub!
Give some extra in that tip to your waiter or waitress. The
economy is bad now.
They need it more than these FAT CATS pulling the strings.
Lets just say, we as a whole, make it clear and tell a sponsor
like Anheuser Bush
that we would boycott their products for 2 months… That
would cut their profits by say 15-20%.
They are the biggest SUPERBOWL sponsor, think they would
care? YES.
That would grab the attentions of the NFL.
Its this type of little stuff that can make a HUGE change.
Whether you agree or not, if you have made it this far, you
must be a football fan like us!!
We are the only ones that can make a change.
A great man once said “be the change you want to see in the
world”.
We have the President behind us and Members of Congress!
BOYCOTT TICKETS
BOYCOTT IN STADIUM ITEMS
BOYCOTT MERCHANDISE
BOYCOTT BOWLGAMES
BOYCOTT SUPERBOWL SPONSERS
BUT..
KEEP WATCHING FOOTBALL AND SUPPORTING THE
ATHLETES
STOP SPENDING YOUR MONEY UNTIL WE HAVE RESULTS.
ITS WITHIN OUR REACH!
Now if we just had some sort of well known to back us
up….OBAMA?! HATCH?!
